Residential – Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue

  • The intended project called for the trimming of dead and potentially hazardous branches off a Silver Maple tree on a residential property in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue.
  • During the inspection of the Silver Maple, our senior arborist found a large cavity at the base of a 130’ tall twin-trunk Poplar tree, rendering the tree unsafe and a potential hazard.
  • Our arboriculture team has a consulting forestry engineer on standby for a second opinion when needed. Together the team established that the 4’ diameter trunk was rotten and posed a danger of falling. Even more, it was too unsafe to climb and we consequently needed to avoid shock loading it.

  • The arborist and the forestry engineer determined that the safest way to remove this would be with a crane as it was not safe to climb.
  • Tree removal requires specialist tree felling knowledge to perform the work safely, especially when handling hollowed tree trunks
    and branches.
  • A bluetooth mobile communication set up was put in place between the arborists and the ground staff.
  • In order to complete this project safely and cost effectively, two mobile cranes were brought in to ensure branches fell in a predictable way to avoid damage to surrounding property or injury to personnel in the complicated dismantling of this massive tree.
  • The tree was then sectionally dismantled and each 1,000 to 2,000 lb section was processed by ground staff. Large timber sections were removed from the site with our tractor mounted crane and transported in containers to a designated ECO-site for chipping and recycling as mulch.

  • This smooth running project was completed on time, within a single working day, and to the satisfaction of our valued customer as evidenced by several return visits to the property for additional arboriculture work.
  • Our certified arborists are committed to you and the health and safety of your trees. Trust in the knowledge and confidence they have gained through International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) certification.

Commercial – McGill University (downtown campus)

  • Beginning in 2018, as a long time trusted partner to McGill University for emergency tree services, we have undertaken major arboriculture work at the downtown Montreal campus.
This busy campus was originally planted with an abundance of Ash trees. Sadly, this area, like much of Eastern Canada, was targeted by the Emerald Ash Borer necessitating the removal of most of the large mature ash trees.

  • Over the course of two years, approximately 35 mature trees (some weighing up to 10 tons) were removed by our skilled team of 3 which included at a minimum two certified arborists.
  • Due to the hazardous nature of the infested trees, which can cause dryness and rapid tree mortality, pre-project inspections were required to assess arborist climbing safety.
  • The work was further complicated by the student pedestrian traffic of this busy downtown campus, requiring an exceptional security plan and work schedule solely on weekends when classes were not in session.

  • Following specific municipal guidelines, stringent environmental and waste control policies were followed with all contaminated wood chipped and disposed of accordingly.
  • Our certified arborists are committed to you and the health and safety of your trees. Trust in the knowledge and confidence they have gained through International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) certification.
